Horror M8 crash near Glasgow Airport as person rushed to hospital

A person has been rushed to hospital following a horror crash on the M8 near Glasgow Airport.

Emergency services including police and paramedics rushed to the two-vehicle crash shortly before 7.30am on Friday (June 14) morning.

One ambulance and two special operations response team (SORT) vehicles were sent to the scene and a patient was blue-lighted to the Royal Alexandra Hospital for treatment.

The nature of their condition remains unknown.

An eyewitness described the scene of the crash as "nasty".

A Scottish Ambulance Service spokesperson said: "We received a call at 07:28 to attend a two-vehicle road traffic collision on the M8, near Glasgow Airport.

"We dispatched one ambulance and two special operations response team (SORT). One patient was transported to Royal Alexandra Hospital."

Police Scotland has been contacted for comment.
