The Stroud Hotel formally known as The Imperial Hotel has undergone an extensive multi-million-pound refurbishment - with the latest addition, a Secret Garden. The iconic 19th-century hotel and restaurant has had many famous visitors over the years including the Beatles and Queen Elizabeth II, who was then Princess Elizabeth, in 1950 as part of a tour of Stroud.

The owners have worked with the council and the local community to ensure that the building on Station Road in Stroud, retains its original features. This was to ensure the building was in keeping with the vision of Benjamin Bucknall, the original architect who built the hotel in 1863.

After a long awaited and unfortunately delayed opening the owners of the hotel were proud to open the doors in time for Christmas 2023 so the public could visit the restaurant and Bucknall Bar. By March 2024 the final touches were put to the Boutique Hotel, which enabled it to warmly invite guests into 24 bedrooms that are in-keeping with the décor seen throughout the rest of the building down in the restaurant, bar and function room.

The new function room is perfect for all events, parties and wedding receptions. The hotel is now fully open and taking enquiries, and they welcome all the guests to pop down and take a tour of the business and meet the team.

Moving into the summer, The Stroud Hotel is delighted to announce our newest addition to The Stroud Hotel, the Secret Garden. The owners have designed a beautiful garden to escape the hustle and bustle of the Stroud town centre and train station where our guests can enjoy our renowned food and beverage offers.

The task of rescuing and remodelling the hotel has been taken on by Simon and Sam Berg, of London-based S2 Estates. Investment into the conversion and refurbishment is to date circa £4million and has created over 35 jobs in the town. It has been recognised locally as an initiative that adds momentum to the £30m nearby investment Dransfield Properties has been making in the town’s retail future.
