Hour by hour forecast for Liverpool as Met Office issues new weather warning

The Met Office has issued another weather warning covering Merseyside. A new yellow weather warning for snow and ice will be in place from 5pm today until 10am tomorrow morning, January 7.

Forecasters said icy stretches and sleet/snow showers are set to develop overnight, bringing some disruption, especially to travel. Merseyside was covered in a blanket of snow yesterday and disruption has continued into today.

Road closures are in place, schools have closed and Merseyrail train services have been disrupted due to the the adverse weather. The warning comes as Merseyside is already under a yellow weather warning for snow and ice and a rare amber warning was in place for much of the weekend, as the region saw heavy snowfall and travel disruption.

The Met Office said: "Icy stretches are expected to develop this evening, due to ongoing wet surfaces following earlier rain and, in places, snowmelt. Frequent sleet or snow showers are also expected to affect Wales and parts of northwest England this evening, moving into southwest England, the Midlands and parts of southern England in the early hours of Tuesday."
