One of the factors that affects the level of turnout during polling days is the weather. Today has not started well in the capital, with thunder and lightning overhead in the early hours.

A yellow weather warning is active until 10am. Experts have warned of spray and sudden flooding leading to 'difficult driving conditions' and some road closures.

In addition, there is a 'slight chance' that power cuts could occur and other services to some homes and businesses could be lost. Further, there is a 'small chance' that homes and businesses could be flooded quickly, with damage to some buildings from floodwater, lightning strikes, hail or strong winds.

Where to vote

Londoners will need to be registered to vote and produce a valid form of photo ID once they get to their polling station. Polling cards with details of where you are to vote were delivered some weeks ago.

But, if you have misplaced yours, do not fear.

The Electoral Commission has a handy tool which tells you where your polling station is. You can access it here.

London Elects has a similar tool. You can use that here.
