House fire in Lufkin leaves dog deceased

LUFKIN, Texas (KETK) – Emergency crews responded to a fire in Lufkin on Friday morning.

According to a release, a passerby reported a fire in the 100 block of Gayle Street at approximately 9 a.m. on Friday.

Officials said that when firefighters arrived, they found heavy smoke and flames coming from the center of a home, after entering the home they determined that there were no people inside the home at the time.

The release said that firefighters had the fire under control at 10:37 a.m. and they discovered that a dog had died in the fire. Lufkin police assisted with traffic control during the incident.

Officials said that the cause of the fire is unknown and the fire is under investigation by the Lufkin Fire Marshal’s Office.
