New housing development coming to Greensburg

May 16—GREENSBURG — A new housing development is planned for the area north of Veteran's Way in Greensburg.

At a recent City Planning Commission meeting at Greensburg City Hall, the Commission approved a plat approval for construction of a subdivision of 103 single-family homes north of Veterans Way.

Charlie Gilman, a developer from Columbus, said much work had been accomplished already.

"We're very close to breaking ground with just a few small details being drawn up, so hopefully we'll be building homes in September," he said.

Gilman said the Liberty Lakes project was one of the fastest and most aggressive developments he has ever worked on, and the storm sewers built along Veterans Way "weren't that deep, so we can go fairly quickly."

He said the need for single-family homes across the country was great and that his company was receiving calls weekly asking when work can begin on other subdivisions.

He added that the community of Greensburg and Greensburg City Hall had been very accommodating and he looked for a "win-win" situation for all involved.

He added that, with weather permitting, the tentative plan is for the sale of homes there to begin in December 2024.
