A housing plan for the heart of Bulkington dubbed 'no sense' by locals has been officially submitted to the borough council. Earlier this year, proposals for a 30 home new estate on Trent Road were revealed by Warwickshire Property and Development Group (WPDG), which is the development arm of Warwickshire County Council.

It would see the homes built on county-council owned land close to to the west of Arden Forest Infant School. However, locals dubbed the plans 'no sense' and more than 80 of them signed objections to the proposals.

But now an official application has been submitted to Nuneaton and Bedworth Borough Council which seeks the green light for the plans to go ahead. Villagers say that the area has already been impacted by a number of new housing developments.

But a spokesperson for WPDG said: "At the recent consultation there was a discussion around the housing mix which would be included in the proposed scheme at Bulkington, this included bungalows and house types which will address local needs.

“We will be taking forward feedback on the design and quality of the scheme as we move to the next stage; subject to obtaining an outline planning consent. We will host a further public consultation event at that time, and will be able to showcase a detailed design following the appointment of a construction delivery partner.”

Now it will be up to planning officers at the Town Hall to decide if planning permission should be granted. As part of this process, a public consultation is held.

Details about the application can be found on the council's website, searching in the planning section for reference 040257. The target decision date for the application is August 7.
