After David Cameron's surprise return to the British government on Monday we asked Yahoo News UK readers if they were happy with the former PM's return to politics.

The former prime minister has taken over from James Cleverly as foreign secretary, in a dramatic reshuffle that saw Suella Braverman sacked as home secretary.

Rishi Sunak has been criticised for bringing in the former PM as the UK's top diplomat as Cameron's flagship foreign policy was the Brexit vote, which he lost.

When he was appointed the new foreign secretary said that while he "disagreed with some individual decisions" of Sunak's, he views him as a "strong and capable prime minister" who is "showing exemplary leadership at a difficult time".

He was notably critical of Sunak's decision to cancel the northern leg of HS2 just a few weeks ago.

In his first week as foreign secretary Cameron has already announced sanctions against several of Hamas's leaders and visited Ukraine.

Some were happy to see Cameron's return to government with his successor Theresa May praising his "immense experience."

And on Thursday he flew to Ukraine to assure Volodymyr Zelensky that Britain will support Ukraine for "however long it takes."

In a video released by Kyiv, Cameron said: "We will continue to give you the moral support, the diplomatic support, the economic support, but above all the military support that you need – not just this year and next year, but for however long it takes.

"I had some disagreements with my friend Boris Johnson, we’ve known each other for 40 years, and his support for you was the finest thing that he and his governments did."
