Huddersfield Town kick off pre-season schedule with 5-0 win over non-league club

Huddersfield Town kicked off their pre-season schedule with a 5-0 victory at Emley this afternoon. Jaheim Headley, Pat Jones, David Kasumu, Ben Wiles and Tyreece Simpson were on target for the Terriers at the Fantastic Media Welfare Ground.

Boss Michael Duff fielded three completely different teams against the Northern Premier League Division One East outfit in his first game in charge, with two first-team 11s and a B team side each getting 30 minutes under their belts.

Town took the lead in the 18th minute as Rhys Healey found Headley in the box, who converted from close range.

The visitors doubled their lead around the halfway point of the contest, as Danny Ward had a shot saved from close range, before Jones fired the rebound high into the net from the edge of the box.

Kasumu and Wiles both seized on defensive errors in quick succession shortly before the hour mark to increase the lead to 4-0.

Simpson rounded off the Terriers’ opening pre-season victory in the final play of the game, with the forward turning in the box and finding the bottom corner to seal the win.

Town’s next pre-season friendly is away to Guiseley, with the Terriers taking on the National League North outfit at Nethermoor Park next Saturday, 3pm kick-off.
