'Huge congratulations' to officer for dedication in making County Durham safer

A Durham Police officer serving on her force's collision unit has been presented with the King's Police Medal at a special ceremony, for her "unwavering dedication" to the community.

Detective Constable Natalie Horner travelled with her family to Windsor Castle to be presented with a King's Police Medal by Princess Anne.

Her many responsibilities include supporting families devastated by the loss of a loved one, teaching other officers best practices and making the County Durham's Roads safer.

Speaking after the ceremony, DC Horner said:  “I am very grateful for being awarded this honour, I would like to thank the families I have worked with for inviting me into their lives and trusting me to get justice for their loved ones."

Durham Police said in a social media post: "A huge congratulations to Detective Constable Natalie Horner, from our Collision unit, who was honoured by Princess Anne at a special ceremony in Windsor earlier this week.

"Natalie and her family headed to the celebration on Wednesday where she was recognised with the King’s Police Medal for her unwavering dedication to making our county's roads safer.

"She was nominated for the honour for her positive approach, her drive to help others and her total dedication to the community, whether it's supporting families devastated by the loss of a loved one or teaching other officers best practices."
