Huge crowds gather in Stanley Park to create party atmosphere for Taylor Swift Anfield gig

Massive crowds gathered in Stanley Park tonight as Taylor Swift's Eras tour continued in the city.

The world's biggest popstar played the second of three sold out shows at Anfield on Friday. Glorious sunshine arrived in Merseyside today and Swifties without a ticket made their way to the nearby park to catch a bit of the action.

The ECHO captured footage of families gathered in the park cheering as the 34-year-old musician arrived on the stage. Megan, Karen and Emily were among the hundreds enjoying the summer sunshine with their family in the park.

They told the ECHO: "We just wanted to come here for the atmosphere and for the kids. It’s so exciting. Loads of kids have been coming up to us and trading bracelets.

"We’re just having a few gins and enjoying the show. It’s such a lovely atmosphere here.” Catrin, Cara and David were also enjoying the atmosphere in the park as they said: "We just love Taylor Swift, we can’t get enough of her, we’ve watched every single live on Instagram.

"It’s a really lovely atmosphere here. We were a bit nervous as people were saying you couldn’t really hear anything from the park but you can hear quite well.”

The weather for tonight's show is a dramatic improvement from yesterday as heavy rain dominated the outlook.

However, fans refused to let the gloomy weather dampen their spirits as Taylor was blown away by the special atmosphere generated by the crowd. The singer shared her appreciation for how they braved the weather to make the 100th performance of the tour one to remember.

She said: "I just want to say those things mean the world to us getting to play the show for people who would go so far above and beyond for us and welcome us to Liverpool in such a fashion.

"We love you so much."

Fans without tickets are advised not to head to the stadium or the surrounding areas and there is strictly no camping permitted at the stadium or in the immediate vicinity, including local parks. Speaking about people gathering in the nearby Stanley Park, Chief Superintendent Zoe Thornton said: "It is is a public park. People can go to it. And we encourage people, to go to parks. That's absolutely right.

"There are bylaws in place, though, not to camp. So our plea really to people is not to envisage camping. It's not the right place to camp. If we need to enforce the bylaws that will take place with the local authority. People can go, they can go and listen, but no overnight camping."
