Huge Edinburgh police response dispatched to petrol station as road closed

An incident in Edinburgh saw emergency services dispatched to the scene on Tuesday evening.

Around ten police vehicles were on Stenhouse Road at the Shell Garage. Images from the road shared with Edinburgh Live show officers parked around the station, as one directs traffic away from the scene.

The nature of the incident is not currently known. Locals claimed the road was "closed off" by police.

An eye-witness told Edinburgh Live: "I just seen lots of cars and vans pull up and closing the road.

"An ambulance and two fire engines appeared."

Police Scotland, the Scottish Ambulance Service and Scottish Fire and Rescue have been approached for comment.

Posting to X, Lothian Buses said: "Due to a road closure buses are unable to serve Gorgie Road at Stenhouse Drive and are instead diverted via Gorgie Road, Balgreen Road and Stevenson Drive in both directions until further notice."
