What was that huge plume of smoke near High School Leckhampton billowing towards Leckhampton Hill?

People in Cheltenham have been wondering what a huge plume of smoke billowing towards Leckhampton Hill was on Tuesday (June 25). It was near to High School Leckhampton in Farm Lane

The smoke was caused by a huge bonfire on land near to the school, and the fire was heard crackling as the smoke was blown away from the school in the direction of Church Road. Smoke continued to blow across the fields in the area into the afternoon.

Gloucestershire Fire and Rescue Service were not called to the scene. The bonfire was under control and away from anything that could potential catch fire.

The smoke has been clearly visible from the Up Hatherley, Leckhampton and Warden Hill areas.
