A cow had to be rescued after falling into a disused mine in Cornwall. Emergency crews were called to rescue the animal after it fell 20 metres at Castle an Dinas in St Columb Major.

Multiple crews from Cornwall Fire and Rescue were sent to the scene near Newquay around 3.40pm yesterday (Thursday, June 27). Once they were at the scene, one firefighter was lowered into the mine to asses the condition of the cow.

Firefighters then set up a safe working area to lift the animal to safety. A second firefighter was sent into the mine to sedate the cow before the rescue began.
