'Huge' Writers Guild Picket Line Wraps Around Amazon Building in Manhattan

Members of the Writers Guild of America (WGA) continued striking for a second week in Manhattan, lining the sidewalks near Amazon’s corporate office on Wednesday, May 10.

Rafael Shimunov recorded this footage on Tenth Avenue in Manhattan as a sidewalk below filled up with WGA strikers and supporters on Wednesday afternoon. He described the number of attendees as “huge.”

On May 2, productions for shows like Saturday Night Live were halted after failed negotiations between the guild and media companies such as Netflix, Amazon, Apple, Discovery, Paramount, Sony, NBC Universal, and Disney. Credit: Rafael Shimunov via Storyful
