Hugh Bonneville gets COVID jab while volunteering as a vaccine marshall

Hugh Bonneville has received his COVID jab while working as a volunteer vaccine marshall at his local medical centre.

The Downton Abbey star shared a photo of himself being vaccinated while proudly wearing his volunteer t-shirt and giving a thumbs up.

He has been volunteering at the Midhurst Riverbank Medical Centre in West Sussex and posted on Instagram about how proud he was to be able to help out during the pandemic.

Sharing three photos with his fans, he wrote: “Midhurst’s Riverbank Medical Centre started vaccinating last week. Today Midhurst Pharmacy, led by Raj Rohilla, joined the rollout in north West Sussex.

“With former nurse Jo Wiltshire (left), Raj and retired GPs Andrew Douglas & Madelaine Litchfield (who gave me my AstraZeneca jab).

Delighted to be part of the support team as a volunteer marshall. I get to wear hi viz and everything. #vaccine #jabtastic”

Bonneville’s photos also included one of the vaccination team, and another of himself wearing a hi vis jacket.

He joins a list of celebrities to have been vaccinated already including Sir Ian McKellen, Sir David Attenborough, Prue Leith and Dame Joan Collins.

The Paddington star, 57, recently complained that he is regularly targeted by trolls pretending to be him on social media.

He told The Mail: “Roughly every two weeks, some numpty who can't spell sets up two new accounts pretending to be me.

“They send naff private messages to people who follow me, hoping to lure them into a weird cave under a rock near the sea anemones of their imagination.”

However, Bonneville has shared many genuine posts about his life during the coronavirus pandemic on his real Instagram and Twitter pages, and his fans offered their congratulations to him on receiving the vaccine.
