Hull City 'consider' transfer move for Sheffield Wednesday star

Hull City are eying a move for Sheffield Wednesday star Josh Windass, according to reports, with the forward coming to the end of his contract at Hillsborough.

Windass is yet to agree terms on an extension to his deal and the 30-year-old could walk away for free when his existing deal ends, though discussions with the South Yorkshire club are ongoing.

City are one of the clubs eyeing a move for Windass, who netted six times in 25 Championship outings last term - including one against the Tigers in their 3-1 defeat against the Owls on New Year's Day, according to the Sheffield Star.

The experienced frontman, of course, is the son of City legend Dean, and has continuously been linked with a move to the MKM Stadium, and the latest links are perhaps understandable, Stoke City and West Brom are also said to be considering snapping him up on a free transfer.

Speaking on the EFL podcast with 1904 Club regular David Prutton, Windass suggested his future at Hillsborough would largely depend on what happens with boss Danny Rohl. The German has been linked with moves away given the uncertainty surrounding owner Dejphon Chansiri, with City themselves casting an eye over the Owls chief.

“At this point I don’t really know. I know the club are speaking to my agent now about the next few years. I’m going to go on holiday, and I don’t know what’s happening with Danny yet," Windass said.

“I think so, yeah. But obviously, I want to be at the club anyway. I’ve had such an affiliation and we’ve had such a good time over the last three or four years. But Danny’s a big component, I think for the majority of the lads, to be honest. I think we feel like next year we can go on to even bigger things.”
