Hull KR overcome experience concerns but must seize the moment

Willie Peters insists Hull KR must seize the moment and not look ahead as they prepare for another semi-final showdown with Wigan Warriors. The Robins are one win away from a return to Wembley, less than twelve months after their crushing Challenge Cup Final defeat last year.

Naturally, their Challenge Cup run has seen a narrative of redemption being painted, with Rovers searching for their first major silverware since 1985. Recent years have seen the Robins threaten to end that drought after reaching the latter stages of competition, but have yet to leave with the big prize.

That, without question, is the end goal for the Robins, but Peters has stressed that they must not let their focus move away from their semi-final opponents, none other than the defending Super League and World Club champions, Wigan.

"You want to play in the big games and there's one to be played this week," Peters said. "But that's as far as we should look at the moment. Once you start looking further you can stop looking at the most important thing, and that's Saturday.

"We've got a big challenge, playing against the world champions. We're certainly not happy with where we're at we want to chase more, but we've got an opportunity to get to that next step."

The Rovers side that features in the semi-final this year looks quite different to that from 12 months ago. Most notably, it will like the experience that was offered by the likes of Shaun Kenny-Dowall and Kane Linnett. However, Peters is confident that it's an issue they have overcome.

"We've brought in some players, guys like Peta Hiku, they've played in big games, test matches. We lost a lot of experienced players and a lot of people asked how we were going to handle that.

"I think we've done a great job, the players like Elliot Minchella, who I believe will be an exceptional captain for this club for years to come. From a leadership point of view, we're in a good spot and we're certainly looking to grow."
