Hull KR quota star suffers injury blow amid Mikey Lewis fitness latest

Hull KR will make a call on Mikey Lewis later in the week as he recovers from a glute injury. The England halfback missed last week's defeat to Catalans Dragons after sustaining an injury in the captain's run, resulting in him not travelling to France.

But Willie Peters has confirmed he will be named in the 21-man squad with a view of playing against Super League champions Wigan Warriors, with it anticipated that Lewis will be available for selection.

Mikey is coming along," Peters said. "We'll have to see how he goes at the back end of the week. But we'll name him in the 21 and see where he goes from there."

But one player who is unlikely to feature is Tom Opacic, who has suffered an injury issue and is not expected to recover in time to take on the Warriors. That will open the door for Oliver Gildart to return to the side after he missed four games due to a neck injury.

"We came through OK," Peters said. "Performance wise wasn't great but in terms of health, we're ok. The only one is Tom Opacic, he's carrying a shoulder, so he'll be in doubt this week.

"We didn't pick Oli last week because Tom had been in the team for four weeks and we'd had four wins. It's very hard to make a chance when Tom is doing his job. Oli understands, but unfortunately for Tom this week with his shoulder, it's more likely he won't play and Gilly will get his opportunity again."
