Hundreds of Baby Turtles Released in Costa Rica After Eggs Recovered From Poachers

Some 446 turtles, born of 736 eggs recovered from poachers by Costa Rica’s National Coast Guard, were successfully released into the ocean on November 18, local media said.

Conservationists, the coast guard and locals worked together to stop the eggs reaching the black market and ensure hundreds of them hatched safely, local media said.

Some 124 eggs still remained to be hatched, El Guardian said. Credit: Ministry of Public Security via Storyful
