Huntsman Spider Watches Over Hatchlings at Queensland Home

The pet huntsman spider was seen watching over her newly hatched offspring at a home Torbanlea, Queensland, video posted on March 21 shows.

The owner of the spider, Lisa Donovan, told Storyful huntsman spiders typically have around 200 offspring, which hang around their mother for a couple of weeks before dispersing to start feeding on their own.

“This spider and her babies are venomous, but they are not deadly,” said Donovan, who is planning to keep a few to raise and release. Credit: Lisa Van Kula Donovan via Storyful
