Hurricane Fiona Churns 550 Miles Off US East Coast

Hurricane Fiona was 550 miles (885 km) off the coast of the eastern United States on Thursday, September 22, according to the National Weather Service (NWS).

The National Hurricane Center (NHC) reported that the storm was expected to affect parts of Bermuda Thursday through Friday, and the Canadian Atlantic coast as it moved north.

Video posted by the NWS Wilmington NC on Thursday shows Hurricane Fiona churning in the Atlantic Ocean off the US east coast. The NWS office said that the storm was “as close as it’ll get” at “a comfortable 550 miles off the coast.”
