Hurricane Idalia Damages Homes and Businesses on Florida's Treasure Island

Storm surge flooding inundated Treasure Island, a barrier island community in the Tampa area, on Wednesday, August 30, damaging homes and businesses.

Aerial footage posted by the City of Treasure Island shows flooded streets in the area. Bridges to the area remained closed, officials said early Wednesday afternoon.

The Sunset Beach neighborhood seems to have sustained the most damage on Treasure Island, officials said. “The surge went into homes and businesses and at one point the Gulf and Intracoastal were connected by water,” the City of Treasure Island said on Facebook.
