Husband who planted GPS tracker on wife's car in two-month stalking ordeal jailed

A blundering husband who fitted a spy tracker to his wife’s car was caught out – because he bought it from their JOINT bank account.

Jealous Stuart Carless, 46, fitted the tracker after being dumped by wife Victoria.

A court heard he suspected she was seeing another man – but paid for the James Bond-style tracker from their joint account.

Prosecutor Simon Rogers said: “She then got an online notification that he had ordered a GPS tracker.”

Careless Carless had fitted the tracker underneath her car during a two-month stalking campaign.

Stuart Carless has been jailed for 14 months after he bought a GPS tracker to help keep tabs on his estranged wife, Victoria, using a shared bank account.

He also bombarded Mrs Carless, 45, on social media and with phone calls.

Hapless Carless downloaded an app to keep track of his wife’s car.

After that failed he placed the tracker beneath it so he could keep tabs on her exact movements, said prosecutor Simon Rogers.

Carless, of Prestatyn, North Wales, pleaded guilty to stalking his wife between October and December last year.

Defending Sarah Yates said it was “an extreme reaction to the breakdown of a 15-year relationship” and added Carless had not been in trouble before.

Judge Rhys Rowlands jailed Carless for 14 months at Mold Crown Court.

Judge Rowlands said: “She was subjected to repeated controlling behaviour which continued even after you had been bailed by the police.

“It went as far as buying and fitting a tracking device under her car because you suspected she left you in order to see another man.”

Carless was also given a two year restraining order from contacting his wife.
