John Hall

John Hall, of Edleston Street, Accrington, passed away peacefully on Monday, April 29, aged 77 years.

A dearly loved husband of Margaret for 53 years. A much loved father of the late Julie, Lisa and Simon. A treasured grandad of Kyle, Eva and Jacob. Father-in-law to Amanda, Stephanie and Darren.

You gave us life, you showed you care,

The ups and downs that we did share.

We didn’t always see eye to eye,

Sometimes we’d laugh and sometimes we’d cry.

Now you’ve gone to have a rest.

The funeral service will take place on Thursday, May 16, at Accrington Crematorium at 1pm.Family flowers only, donations are being gratefully received to the British Lung Foundation.

A celebration of life will be held at Church and Oswaldtwistle Cricket Club.

Valerie (Val) Sherburne

It is with great sadness we announce the sudden but peaceful passing of Valerie (Val) Sherburne on Monday, April 29.

Val was the dearly beloved wife of the late Peter Sherburne.

Val leaves her brother-in-law David and Sister-in-law Marilyn.

She was auntie to Andrew and Warren, and great Aunt to Ben, Connor and Becks.

Val spent her days without Peter, at Henley House care home, where the wonderful staff took great care of her.

The funeral will be held at Accrington Crematorium at 3pm on Wednesday, May 15.

Moira Staines

Moira Staines, of Accrington, died peacefully on Wednesday, May 1.

Moira was known to many as the landlady of The White Orchid Boutique Bar on Market Square in Accrington Town Centre. During her life she also worked at Woodcocks and Sons, was the owner and dance teacher of Lollipop Dance Studio as well as being the Advice and Guidance Manager at rossendale-college>Accrington and Rossendale College for many years.

In her spare time, she enjoyed socialising, reading, listening to music and working with the local Citizen’s Advice Centres.

Her claim to fame was becoming the first female landlady in Rossendale in 1990, at the Forrester Arms in Haslingden.

Moira was the dearly loved daughter of Alan and Vera, a much-loved wife of Bill, a dear sister to Chris and a good friend to many. She will be very sadly missed by all her loving family and all those who knew her.

A celebration of life service will be held on Thursday, May 16, at Accrington Crematorium.

The funeral cortege will leave from the White Orchid at approximately 9.15am for the service at 9.40am.

The celebration of Moira’s life will then continue afterwards back at The White Orchid.
