After looking over the blood stained ambulance where Sam died, Iain admits to Jan that he knew Mia Bellis might hurt herself. He ignored her pleas and overruled Ruby's concerns. Jan is furious he did not report it and tells him to get his story straight with Ruby.

Worried about lying on a statement, Ruby asks to see Iain's, admitting that Jan says it might be awkward if their statements differ. When she asks Iain if he is comfortable lying, he does not answer.

Later, as Iain gives his statement to Jan, he enquires about Ruby's willingness to lie. Jan says she told her that he would lose his job if she doesn't. Iain visits Sam's body, he apologises to her and confides that his job is everything to him – he can't be fired.

Meanwhile, Ciara comes back into Dylan's life.

Elsewhere, Connie informs the senior staff that the ED is missing their targets. There can be no more mistakes or the CQC will investigate.
