Ice-T Surprises Raising Cane's Customers —and Influences Their Drink Orders — for National Iced Tea Day (Exclusive)

The rapper and 'Law & Order: SVU' star jumped behind the counter at the brand’s Astor Place location in New York City in honor of the June 10 holiday

Welcome to Raising Cane’s, where Ice-T is ready to take your (law and) order.

The SVU star partnered with the restaurant chain to celebrate National Iced Tea Day, which falls on June 10.

“I started working with Raising Cane's about three years ago in Arizona. They weren't in New York [yet]. My manager's always like, ‘If there's anything you really like, let me know and I'll reach out.’ So, it was natural because of ‘iced tea’ and all that. Plus I really like the stuff," Ice-T tells PEOPLE.

"I always try to find things that I'm truly into instead of just endorsing s--- I don't f--- with. That's corny," he adds.

To celebrate National Iced Tea Day later this month, Raising Cane’s is also offering a free 22 oz iced tea, sweetened or unsweetened, to all Caniac Club Members across the country.

When asked how he prefers the drink, Ice-T makes his preference clear.

“I'm sweet! I don't understand unsweetened iced tea, unless you got, like, some health stuff," he says.

"People are against sugar and this and that, but certain things are meant to be sweet,” the star adds.

In a spoof on the two different types of beverages, Ice-T pretends to be sweet and unsweet in ads for the brand, a nod not only to the acting chops he’s earned in 24 years on Law & Order: SVU, but also to the fact that the actor loves to have “fun.”

“We did a play on it," he says. “So, the unsweet iced tea is me and the sweet iced tea. We did a whole bunch of commercials where sweet Ice-T is talking to unsweet Ice-T.”

Raising Cane's also had the actor hop behind the counter at their Astor Place location in New York City, where he handed out sweet iced teas to various customers, all of whom were elated to come face-to-face with the star.

The 66-year-old, whose go-to order is a classic box combo complete with “all the sides,” adds that the food at Raising Cane's is almost too delicious to be true.

“It's crazy that they can make this chicken. It's just simple. It's chicken, sauce, bread, iced tea,” he says. “This stuff is crazy.”

And, though the fast casual chain won’t reveal even to an icon like Ice-T what’s in their super-secret dipping sauce, the rapper admits he doesn’t mind.
