Icy Blast Freezes Trees and Coastline in Vermont
Temperatures described as “well below freezing” and winds gusting to 30mph froze trees and coastline on Lake Champlain on Thursday, February 29.
The National Weather Service reported wind gusts up to 35 mph and temperatures as low as -11°F (-24°C) in some areas on Thursday.
The wind led “to waves on Lake Champlain crashing onto the cove and encasing the tree in ice,” Rodney Chai, who filmed this video, said.
The footage shows a layer of ice covering the cove as well as frozen branches. Credit: @RodneyChaiWX via Storyful
