The Idol star Da'Vine Joy Randolph has revealed there is a major twist that will change the direction of the finale.

It comes after it was confirmed that the controversial HBO series was being cut short by one whole episode, and the original six-part series would end with its fifth instalment titled 'Jocelyn Forever'.

In an interview with The Wrap, The Lost City star opened up about the final two episodes and promised that the shady relationship between pop star Jocelyn (Lily-Rose Depp) and nightclub owner Tedros (Abel 'The Weeknd' Tesfaye) will feature a shocking twist.

"What you've seen up until now, it's about to completely turn on its head," she explained, adding that the events would "reveal something different" about the couple's current relationship.

Randolph continued, referring to Sam Levinson: "The man [created] Euphoria. You really think it's gonna be surface and obvious? No, there's a spin — there's a huge, huge spin."

She also opened up about her character Destiny, and the connection she shares with her musical client Jocelyn, as she has a background in the industry.

"She's been a part of this life in a very intimate way herself, even in some ways as a performer. This is someone who's been there, done that, and now has found their new way of how they want to still be a part of this world but in a new space."

As Jocelyn's support system, Destiny can also sense the danger around Tedros, and instinctively knows he is "a problem".

Randolph said: "When this Tedros guy comes, she's been there, done that — she knows this type, yes probably dated one of these guys herself at some point in her life. The moment she sees him, [she knows] it's bullshit… There's no disrespect to Abel and his character, but it's like: 'I know what this is. I know this guy. I know what this type is'.

"Destiny is not all that worried, because she knows what to do when the time comes."

The Idol airs on HBO, Sky Atlantic and NOW.
