I'm A Celebrity 2017: ITV bosses 'want Paul Burrell's ex Greg Pead for jungle stint'

ITV bosses have allegedly approached Paul Burrell’s former partner over a possible stint in the I’m A Celebrity jungle this year, with the hope that he might spill the beans on their past relationship.

Australian Greg Pead dated Princess Diana’s former butler for three years in the 1980s, and show producers are hoping that he might have some royal secrets to share around the campfire, according to the Daily Star.

“Greg will no doubt have lots of campfire gossip about Burrell and the royals,” a source told the newspaper, before adding: “Plus he is an Aussie so he won’t be phased by any of the spiders and snakes.”

The ex-footman tried to keep their relationship private and after they decided to part ways, he went on to marry Maria Cosgrove, who he met while working in Buckingham Palace, and later had two children with.

However, Greg went public with their two-year relationship in 2002, disclosing apparent details about their time together, including tales of the pair sneaking into the royal household for steamy sex sessions and visiting the Queen’s private apartments to meet her corgis.

The 58-year-old butler recently made headlines again, as he came out as gay and revealed that he is planning to marry his partner of 10 years, lawyer Graham Cooper, in a low-key ceremony next month.

Speaking about the couple’s impending nuptials, an insider told The Sun: “They want to let their hair down and enjoy themselves. Guests have a rough idea of where it will take place.

“But to increase the suspense Paul and Graham have kept the exact details of the venue quiet.”

Paul, who Princess Diana described as her “rock”, appeared on I’m a Celebrity in 2004, finishing as a second place runner-up to comedian Joe Pasquale.

Now, for Paul’s sake, let’s hope that Greg keeps quiet on any other secrets he may or may not have should he appear on the show – as the royal aide previously said of his former lover: “It causes me grief when he pops up.” Eek.
