'I'm A Celebrity': Matt Hancock rushed to medics after being stung by scorpion

Matt Hancock got more than he bargained for on I'm A Celebrity after he was bitten by a scorpion.

The former health secretary has been put through the wringer by viewers who have so far voted him for every available bushtucker trial, as well as his campmates who've been grilling him for breaching Covid guidelines in the middle of the pandemic.

Now it seems the jungle wanted to get a nip in too.

In scenes aired on Sunday evening, Hancock had barely woken up by the day when he was heard screaming by his fellow campmate after getting a nasty nick.

Initially believing it to be a splinter, things soon turned when he noticed the scorpion.

“Ow, that really hurts!," he yelled. "I’ve got no splinter. Ow, that really hurts… it’s like I must have been bitten by something. Oh yeah! Wow, look at that a scorpion. I’ve been stung by a scorpion!”

As Scarlette Douglas and other campmates rushed to his aid, Hancock said he'd started feeling a little dizzy and needed to sit down.

However, one celeb wasn't feeling particularly sympathetic, with Boy George later sniggering in the Bush Telegraph and admitting: "How does that happen? Of all the people that could get stung by a scorpion….

"|I’m not laughing, I’m sure it was horrible but… [laughs]...”

He wasn't the only one, with viewers at home laughing at the turn of events.

"Boy George is totally every one of us watching this scorpion sting Matt Hancock right now," tweeted one fan.

While another mocked Hancock's excuse for breaking the rules, and said: "Look, you can't blame the scorpion. It was trying really hard not to sting Matt Hancock in a difficult time. Besides, you can't be angry at a scorpion for falling in love."

While another simply said: "Matt Hancock getting stung by a scorpion has made my night. Thank you Mr Scorpion you legend"

Hancock added he felt bad as it was "only a little one" prompting Ant and Dec to mock him back in the studio.

"It's not always the size!" declared Declan Donnelly, who has allowed his height to be the butt of jokes throughout the series.

"Yeah… It's always the little one you've got to look out for!" Ant McPartlin responded.

This caused Donnelly to threaten to 'knock him out'.

Hancock's scorpion sting had been widely reported ahead of the episodes, with the team confirming he had been treated by medics as a result of the sting.

These scenes were removed from the final episode.

Hancock wasn't given much time to chill out though, having been voted for yet another bushtucker trial. Entering the House of Horrors, he managed to collect nine out of 11 stars.

I'm A Celebrity… Get Me Out Of Here airs nightly at 9pm on ITV.
