This year's I'm A Celebrity...Get Me Out Of Here! contestants have only just entered the jungle, but in his first few moments on the show, Hollyoaks actor Owen Warner managed to offend Boy George before stumbling into a series of hilarious gaffes.

Warner, 23, plays Romeo Nightingale in Hollyoaks and seemed far from starstruck as he made his entrance to the ITV show – in fact, he struggled to recognise a music icon and a fellow soap actor.

As the campmates arrived to a drinks reception at a luxury yacht, Warner stepped onto the pier and introduced himself, closely following up by asking soap star Sue Cleaver – who has played Eileen Grimshaw in Coronation Street for his entire lifetime of 23 years – "what's your name?".

But Warner made things even more awkward when he moved on to Boy George and asked him the same question, who looked stunned as he answered: "George."

Soon afterwards, TV presenter Scarlette Douglas joined the group and as her boat approached the pier, Boy George noted: "She's from A Place In The Sun."

Warner turned to him and asked: "Whereabouts?", as he replied: "No, the TV show."

Boy George and Douglas later headed to the VIP area aboard the yacht for one last luxury meal as Warner joined Cleaver and Mike Tindall to make their way into camp.

Cleaver and Tindall burst out laughing as Warner was asked what he was most afraid of about their journey and answered: "Snakes that can swim. Like, snakes that have evolved to swimming level."

Viewers were impressed with Tindall, who jumped straight into a river, under a boat and through a mass of spiders without flinching, while Cleaver followed up with an equally impressive rummage through boxes of cockroaches, guts and mealworms in search of fish eyes.

Warner asked her what the eyeballs felt like and she jokingly answered: "Touch your own eyeball," as he was shown trying to put his finger into his own eye.

Eventually, it came to Warner's turn to do a task, which involved crawling up a drain and being showered with insects, leaving Cleaver and Tindall in hysterics again as they listened to his screams.

As Warner complained about the smell, Cleaver replied: "Yeah, I know mate, because of the fish eyes."

The episode also introduced Chris Moyles, Olivia Attwood, Charlene White, Babatunde Aléshé and Jill Scott in a separate group, with George, Douglas, Moyles and Attwood sent to an isolated, basic camp for the night while the others moved into the main camp.

Matt Hancock and Seann Walsh are expected to join later in the week.

I'm A Celebrity...Get Me Out Of Here! continues tonight at 9pm on ITV.
