I'm A Celebrity... Get Me Out Of Here!: The grim reason why contestants wear red socks
The uniform that I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out Of Here! contestants wear every year on the show is as famous as the reality programme’s Bushtucker Trials and sexy waterfall shower.
However, as trendy as the outfits might be the bright red socks are far from a fashion statement, with medic Bob revealing the real, quite grim, reason for the accessory.
Speaking to Woman’s Own, the onsite and often onscreen medic for the ITV show has revealed that the colour of the socks are a conscious decision, with producers opting for the bright shade of red to ensure that unsightly blood stains from insect bites don’t show up on camera.
Erm, lovely.
Although the socks are there to hide any unattractive wounds, Bob is on-hand seven days a week throughout the show’s run, tasked with the big job of ensuring that none of the creatures – including seven different types of deadly snakes – living in the jungle do the celebrities any harm.
This year’s series of I’m A Celeb returns to our screens on Sunday [19 November], with Coronation Street’s Jennie McAlpine, Boris Johnson’s dad, Stanley Johnson, and football hardman Dennis Wise among the line-up.
We can hardly wait!
