I’m a Celebrity… South Africa star Amir Khan has admitted he didn’t know who some of his fellow campmates were.

The former professional boxer became the third celebrity to be evicted from the jungle, with the contestant being sent packing by his campmates during last night’s (May 2) episode.

Speaking to hosts Ant and Dec following his exit, Amir said he enjoyed his second stint in the jungle as part of the All-Stars series, but revealed he struggled to remember some of his co-stars’ names.

“To be honest with you, I didn’t really know anyone in camp when I entered. I’m really bad,” he said. “The only people I knew in there were [Georgia] ‘Toff’ [Toffolo] and Carol Vorderman.

“I’m also really bad with names, I always get names wrong but people made that a bit of a joke and had a laugh about it,” he added. “Luckily, they all had their names on the back of their T-shirts so sometimes I’d have a little peek at their backs as I couldn’t remember their names.”

Khan previously appeared in the 17th series of I’m a Celebrity, where he eventually finished in fifth place. His stint was notable for ‘Strawberry-gate’, in which he and comedian Iain Lee ate a batch after winning them for the group instead of returning them to camp.

“I don’t regret one bit what I did. I was starving at the time, and it was fun and boisterous,” he said of the incident.

“It caused a lot of commotion, but I couldn’t believe how big it became in the UK. Still to this day, I get people talking about it and coming over to me with gifts of strawberry bowls.”

I'm a Celebrity… South Africa airs on Mondays-Fridays at 9pm on ITV1 and streams on ITVX.
