Feyenoord forward Igor Paixão has revealed he is "waiting" for Liverpool amid reports Arne Slot's side are interested in securing his services this summer.

Paixão last season helped Feyenoord claim the KNVB Cup and scored a total of 12 goals in all competitions as a second-placed Eredivisie finish was secured.

The year before this, his debut campaign with the club, Paixão was part of Slot's side which won the Eredivisie title and reached the quarter-finals of the Europa League before being knocked out by AS Roma over two legs.

His strong performances have resulted in suggestions the Brazilian could reunite with Slot this summer by joining Liverpool, and the 24-year-old is fully aware he is being tipped to head for Merseyside.

Speaking out on such links, he told Globo Esporte: "I only see this on social media. (The fans) don't want me to leave Feyenoord, but it doesn't depend on me. Together with my agents and the board of directors we will decide the best path to follow. I’m listening and watching on social media. A lot of people are always tagging me and asking: are you going to Liverpool? I don’t know anything, I’m just waiting. But Dutch football is really cool. The intensity is what makes it different."

Pressed further on his personal relationship with Slot, Paixão added: "He also helped me when I arrived, in my development, and I felt like I was helping him. It's good that everything worked out. He did an exceptional job with our squad. I just have to thank him and wish him success at Liverpool. He will be missed, but he has to keep working."

Paixão, who is capable of playing across the frontline, signed for his current employers from Brazilian side Coritiba in 2022 and is not the only member of the current Feyenoord squad to have been tipped for a Liverpool transfer. Left-back Lutsharel Geertruida and centre-back David Hancko have, too, been mentioned as possible summer recruits for the new Reds' boss, who may look to link up with some familiar faces.

Hancko is currently starring at Euro 2024 with Slovakia and was quizzed on his former boss at a press conference. Offering his thoughts on Slot replacing Jurgen Klopp, he said: "I'm not surprised that such a big club like Liverpool has signed him.

"Hopefully within a few years he will be seen as one of the best trainers in the world. I have been fortunate to work with him over the past two years and he has helped me a lot in my development, including tactically and the system he wants to play in. That has helped me enormously.

"He is a very good coach and I wish him the best of luck. I have a feeling he will do well at Liverpool because he will now be working with better players than at Feyenoord. Although we have had two great seasons, this is a great move for him and I'm not surprised that such a big club like Liverpool has signed him."
