Image Comics Taps Jim Viscardi as VP of Business Development
Jim Viscardi is moving to Image Comics, with the publisher behind The Walking Dead hiring Viscardi as VP of Business Development.
Viscardi is well known in the comic book space as the top editor of ComicBook.com, which launched in 2015 and sold to CBS Interactive three years later. He oversaw its overall editorial strategy, among other duties at the site as it rose to prominence. At Image, he will report to Eric Stephenson, publisher & chief creative officer.

“Image Comics stands as the vanguard of creator-owned publishing, embodying the spirit of artistic freedom and empowerment. In joining this team, I am excited by the opportunity to contribute to Image’s legacy of fostering creative independence while driving strategic business growth that helps our partners in the Direct Market & beyond,” said Viscardi. “Together, we will continue to push boundaries, inspire innovation, and amplify the voices of creators worldwide.”
Viscardi previously worked at Marvel Entertainment, working on the company’s marketing, communications, and retailer relations — including during major events such as the 2012 Avengers vs. X-Men event and the 2011 introduction of Miles Morales as Spider-Man.
“I first met Jim around 10 years ago when he was on the verge of making a major career change,” Stephenson said in a statement. “Jim’s tireless work ethic and all-encompassing passion for comics made him an ideal candidate for a job opening we had at the time. His interests ultimately led him elsewhere—to great success—but it’s exciting that all these years later, we finally have an opportunity to work together. He has a wealth of experience at his disposal, but more than that, a unique perspective that should serve him well in this new role.”
Image launched in 1992 when seven top Marvel artists left to form their own company, with the idea that comic book creators would retain ownership of the characters they created. In the decades since, it has become known for titles such as Spawn, Invincible and Saga.
