A lavish new addition to a Sedgefield hotel is set to have couples swooning with its added extras such as mirror ceilings and outdoor saunas.

The Impeccable Pig in Sedgefield, known for its accommodation, restaurant and pub, has already carved out a reputation with its themed rooms, including one named after Playboy founder Hugh Hefner. Now, the hotel, dubbed 'the most romantic pigsty in the world', is taking things up a notch with its latest invitation to 'come and sty'.

It has transformed an old coach house on its premises into 12 luxury bedrooms. Spread over two floors, these new additions include two suites designed with romance in mind - and to sweeten the deal, the hotel is currently offering a 15% discount on certain dates until the end of August.

Among the options is Squealers, which features an animal-print theme; a circular velvet 'day-bed' and a raised-level bathroom with double 'rainfall showers' as well as a copper bath big enough for two. There's also Porco Rosso, which boasts a mirror ceiling and a heavily-draped four-poster bed where guests can relax against a backdrop of saffron and burnt umber hues.

The largest of the new rooms is the Whole Hog, whose main attractions are a seven-foot ornate bed and a round free-standing copper and tin bath. Other luxuries included in this room are a walk-in rainfall shower and a private garden with a four-seater hot tub and sauna, reports Chronicle Live.

Options for pig-themed rooms at the hotel include Oinkers, Globe Trotter and Babe, as well as the French-inspired Le Cochon D'or, adorned with hanging blossoms and gold tiles; The Dirty Pig, featuring gold tiles and a fur-lined wall; and Three Little Pigs, which creatively incorporates elements of bricks, sticks and straw from the nursery story. Also on offer is The Pigsty, which combines Moroccan flair with brick walls and tree scenes, providing ample opportunity for guests to indulge.

Arron Herd, general manager, said: "Our aim in creating The Impeccable Pig was to make it fun, with such great food and drink that no-one wanted to leave - which is why they are the most perfect choice for a romantic getaway."
