A Glasgow hair salon has been nominated for two awards in an upcoming industry event.

Rainbow Room International's salon on Buchanan Street is up for Salon of the Year and Salon Team of the Year at Hairdresser Journal's British Hairdressing Awards.

Rainbow Room made it to the finals after submitting entries that caught the attention of experts and detailed the skills and experience that have contributed to their success.

The winners will be revealed at the 25th annual awards, set to take place on Monday, July 1 2024, at London’s Park Plaza Westminster Bridge.

Salon director Wil Fleeson said: "I am so proud of our Buchanan Street team.

"It’s been an incredible year for us so far, starting with loads of award wins including winning Salon Team of the Year at our annual Rainbow Room International Awards and now, to have been recognised at the leading industry annual event The British Hairdressing Business Awards and be nominated in the top six salons in the whole of the UK for not only the Salon Team of the Year category but also the Salon of the Year category is truly amazing and so well deserved for our amazing and inspirational multi award-winning team.

"Fingers crossed we can bring home both awards on the awards night on July 1!”

Meanwhile, Laura Leigh Kerr from Rainbow Room Academy on Glasgow's Howard Street has also finalised in the Educator of the Year category.

There are also nominations for Riccardo Corvi (Franchisee of the Year) and Rachael Macdonald (Salon Stylist of the Year), both from Rainbow Room International in Ayr.

Laura said: “I am absolutely thrilled to be a finalist for the British Hairdressing Business Awards this year for the Educator of the Year category.

"I won the category in 2022 and 2023 and to win again in 2024 would be an amazing achievement.

"It would also place me on the Hall of Fame for winning the category three times! When you love what you do and have faith that your plans will develop into something meaningful this is what gives you purpose.

"Looking forward to the awards night with the rest of our incredible RRI family up for some of the most sought-after awards."

Jayne Lewis-Orr, executive director of the British Hairdressing Business Awards, added: "The awards celebrate the talented and passionate teams and individuals who contribute to the greatness of British hairdressing.

"Once again, our judging panel faced an outstanding group of candidates. To make the shortlist for these categories, nominees need to demonstrate a forward-thinking approach to running a salon, as well as the results and reputation to back it up.

"The Rainbow Room International team should feel incredibly proud to have achieved that and finalised alongside such impressive talent."
