When the summer season approaches, many families are drawn to the seaside as a place to relish the sun. However, even if the unpredictable British weather spoils your beach plans, you don't need to put away your swimming essentials yet.

Just a short M25 drive away from Essex, resides Coral Reef Waterworld in Bracknell, Berkshire - an outstanding indoor water park. The park is a great alternative for families especially when typically inclement UK weather turns sour.

In 2017, the water park underwent a £13 million revamp to create an amazing family-friendly attraction. With everything from five adrenaline-pumping slides and a tranquil lazy river, to a fun-filled pirate ship, there's something to cater to everyone.

Alternatively, the 'Aqua Splash' slide offers a more relaxed experience packed with excitement. This flume features 15 interactive touchpads that light up as you glide past - try hitting as many as possible to score points, reports Surrey Live.

Then we have 'Storm Chaser', providing a unique experience where riders can venture alone or join up with a family member. Its unique appeal comes from its tailored experience, letting riders pick their own music and lighting effects for the slide journey.

Maelstrom is another must-try. Despite its tranquil water, soft lights and music, it quickly turns into a wild ride as you're thrown into a churning cone of water before reaching the end. Coral Reef Waterworld isn't just about slides though. For the little ones, there are toddler pools equipped with mini slides, drench buckets, water troughs and a yellow diving bell.

For those seeking relaxation, the lazy river is a perfect choice. But if you're after something more exhilarating, try the fast-flowing water of the Disco Island Rapid Channel. The Coralina Pirate Ship, complete with water cannons and slides, is a park highlight - it even features an erupting volcano.
