India gears up for third phase of general election

STORY: Voting equipment and polling officials embarked on boat journeys across rivers and the Arabian Sea on Monday (May 6), ensuring rural island communities can have their say in India's upcoming third election phase.

Nearly a billion people are eligible to vote in India's general elections, which are being held over almost seven weeks from April 19.

Modi is widely expected to win a rare third term in the general election that will conclude on June 1, with votes set to be counted on June 4.

94 constituencies, spanning twelve states and territories, are set to vote in the third phase of India's ongoing seven-phase election.
