Inmate died while in custody at prison north of Montreal, correctional service says
The Correctional Service of Canada says an inmate died at a prison north of Montreal over the weekend.
The correctional service sent a brief news release Wednesday afternoon reporting the death of Jean Brousseau, a man in his late 60s, at the Archambault Institution in Sainte-Anne-des-Plaines, about 50 kilometres north of Montreal.
The federal agency did not list a cause of death and says it is reviewing the circumstances surrounding Brousseau's death.
The agency said it is also notifying Quebec police and the province's coroner.
Brousseau had been serving a sentence of three years and six months that began last month.
He had been found guilty of distribution of child pornography, possession of child pornography, access to child pornography, luring a child under the age of 16 years old, as well as with a failure to comply with an order.
