Inmate dies in Crenshaw County Jail

CRENSHAW COUNTY, Ala (WDHN) — An investigation is underway after an inmate died at the Crenshaw County Detention Center earlier this week.

The Crenshaw County Sheriff’s Office identified the inmate as Ronald Grow.

According to the CCSO, jail staff found Grow unresponsive in his cell Monday morning, and despite life-saving actions from the jail nurse and EMS units, Grow was pronounced dead.

A spokesperson from the CCSO said Grow had underlying medical conditions, and foul play is not suspected.

Grow’s body was transported to the Alabama Department of Forensic Sciences for an autopsy.
