Inside Newcastle café's secret cinema with screening options to suit all tastes

A city centre café is fully focused upon satisfying its customers and has now added a mini cinema to its menu of treats.

Claremont Teahouse, in Eldon Place, has opened what's billed as a 'secret cinema' which is now available for private hire. And the tucked-away space can be used to screen films and home movies or even host corporate events.

There were plans revealed a year ago to revamp the downstairs cinema space found on a takeover of the building, formerly Quilliam Brothers’ Teahouse. Now customers can check out a stylish room which can accommodate up to 16 people, making it suitable for the likes of power point presentations too.

Owner Stuart Young, of Northern Bar Management whose venues also include the likes of Michelin Guide Newcastle restaurants Osters and Lovage, said the aim is to provide “an intimate, personalised and unrivalled event experience". He added: “The secret cinema’s size and city centre location are ideal for anyone looking for a truly bespoke event - from christening or birthday parties to something more corporate yet still with an entirely personal feel.”

There will be plenty food and drink options to add to the mix, from the café's range of home-baked goods to its selection of international teas alongside wine, beer and prosecco. It also will be able to offer event organisers menus which are tailored to their needs, with food options ranging from canapés to cinema-style hot dogs, nachos and popcorn.

There is an option too to hire out the venue’s entire lower floor for larger events. Hire costs will start at £200 with bespoke packages available. For more information email hello@claremontteahouse.com or see here.
