Instagram is finally putting newer posts first again

From Digital Spy

Instagram is giving its news feed a bit of a revamp in its new update, introducing (and re-introducing) some great new features.

Like making sure that the news feed is chronological again.

Yes, after suffering through a disjointed Instagram feed where an ill-judged algorithm made sure to give users photos from a few days ago in among more recent pictures, now it looks like the social media app has heard our grumbles and is making sure the posts we see first have actually been posted within the last hour or so.

Which means no more accidentally liking four-day-old snaps of your old housemate's holiday.

Instagram made the announcement in a blog post today (March 22), where it was also revealed that the app is testing a "new posts" feature instead of automatically refreshing news feeds.

This means that users will no longer be bumped to the top when new images come in, and instead can continue scrolling through before tapping the "New Posts" button to take them to the top of the feed.

Instagram says it hopes the new changes will mean users have "more control over your feed and ensure the posts you see are timely", adding that the social media site will be sharing more about improvements being made to feeds over the next few months.

"Our goal is to be the best place to share and connect with the people and interests that matter most to you," the blog post states.
