Instagram and Threads features down as thousands report issues
Thousands of people faced issues using Meta social media services Instagram and Threads, according to users and media observers.
Over 3,000 people reported issues with Instagram alone on Monday, per Downdetector, a site that monitors outages in telecommunications.
A smaller portion of reports came in about issues with text-based app Threads, according to the site.

People experiencing the reported issue said they were getting an error message while trying to post comments on Instagram.
“Yeah, Instagram is down again!” X user @howfxr wrote on Monday afternoon, sharing a screenshot of the error message.
The Independent has contacted Meta for comment.
Issues were reported across the US, UK, Europe, and Asia, according to The Daily Mail.
As of Monday afternoon, #instagramdown was a trending hashtag on X.
Many on social media commented on the reported outage coinciding with the April Fool’s Day holiday.

Users reported issues with Instagram and Facebook Messenger last month.
Meta made headlines last month when it changed company policy regarding political content on Instagram. Users will now have to opt into seeing recommendations for such content from accounts they don’t already follow.
