An investigator has said he would be able to uncover whether Jay Slater's disappearance 'involved a third party' as he offered help to his heartbroken mum.

TV investigator and author Mark Williams-Thomas announced that he had reached out to Jay's mum Debbie Duncan to 'get her answers as to what happened' to him.

The 19-year-old, who has not been heard from since Monday (June 17), is thought to have phoned his friend Lucy Mae to telling her he was lost in a rural area and that his phone battery was down to just one percent. His phone then later 'pinged' in an open area around half a mile north of the Masca village.

Emergency workers, including the Civil Guard, mountain rescue team and fire crews, are continuing in their search of a 30-kilometre area in the Rural de Teno park, which involves steep and 'treacherous' mountains and ravines.

Members of the search and rescue teams previously told the Manchester Evening News why the vast landscape is proving so challenging to search.

Mark said he has requested 'total access' with 'feet on the ground' to quickly establish if the teenager's disappearance was him alone, or more suspicious and involved others.

"I have this morning reached out to missing Jay Slater’s mum offering the help of my team to get her answers as to what has happened to Jay," he said. "Lots of speculation about what could have happened and if they give me total access and with feet on the ground I will very quickly be able to say if his disappearance is him alone or if it has third party involvement."

Since Jay's disappearance, social media has been awash with speculation about theories of his disappearance, with his mum Debbie also taunted by sick trolls comparing her to Karen Matthews, who hatched a sick plot to have her daughter kidnapped for ransom.

On Sunday (June 23), search dogs and fire crews were once again deployed amid the ongoing search as efforts continued for their seventh day.
