The new Apple iPhone 14’s release is just around the corner, and speculation regards the device’s exact launch date and model type has reached a fever pitch.
How much the iPhone 14 will cost, whether it’s worth waiting for, and if a mini version will once again be available are just some of the questions potential buyers are desperate to find the answers to.
Here’s everything we know so far about Apple’s next-gen iPhone 14...
When is the new iPhone 14 coming out?
Apple favours Tuesday as its best day for special events, though Monday and Wednesday are not ruled out. One reason for Tuesday is the need for press representatives to fly in from around the world.
Apple always chooses either the first or second week of September, rather than later in the month, which gives us a choice of two dates, Tuesday, September 6 and Tuesday, September 13.
Based on rumors, Apple is expected to hold its Apple September event September 13, which would fall on a Tuesday about a week after Labor Day this year.
That would mean iPhone 14 preorders could start that Friday, September 16, and the actual iPhone release date could be September 23.
iPhone release date history
The historical dates listed below give you some idea of the times of the year that Apple tend to like releasing new iPhones.
A September release date is very feasible:

iPhone 12 release date: October 23rd, 2020
iPhone 11 release date: September 20th, 2019

How much is the new iPhone 14 expected to cost?
The price points for the iPhone 14 range are unknown but as a reference, when the iPhone 13 was released it was priced ‘from £779’. The iPhone Pro was advertised on the Apple website for £949 and the iPhone Pro Max priced at £1,049.
It is thought that the iPhone 14 will cost around the same price but the Pro editions will see increases of around £100.
What colours will the new iPhone 14 come in?
Reports on the website Phone Arena indicate that the phones will come in a variety of colours. The iPhone 14 and Max are rumoured to come in Midnight, Starlight, Product RED, Blue, and potentially a new purple colour.
The Pro models will come in graphite, silver, gold, and maybe purple as well.
Will the iPhone 14 have a screen lock?
Multiple sources have leaked that the iPhone 14 could come equipped with the Samsung M12 OLED material set. Considering this didn’t even make the Samsung S22 Ultra – the brand’s flagship mobile – this comes as a huge shock to many.
Samsung’s OLED materials could be used in the latest iPhone 14 devices, producing better display performance, colour accuracy, and energy efficiency.
This, amongst other exciting specs, could give the iPhone 14 the edge over its competition yet again – a possibility that is making many Samsung users less than happy.
