This Morning guest Iris Jones has split from her younger husband after two years of marriage.

The 83-year-old grandmother from Weston-Super-Mare found fame after she appeared on the ITV show in 2020 to discuss her romance with 37-year-old Mohamed Ibriham from Cairo, Egypt, who she fell in love with after meeting Facebook.

But Jones has now told Closer magazine: "I adored everything about Mohammed. But it became hard work. We used to have a great sex life but then, rather than making love, we ended up arguing all the time about anything and everything. I can’t be doing with that. I’m not a lovesick teenager. I’m 83."

She revealed that she has now found a new kind of companionship – after adopting a new cat.

Jones said: "I got him just a few days after Mohammed moved out and he’s the perfect companion. He never complains, is very quiet and beautiful to look at – I adore him.

"And he’s very happy here and doesn’t create an mess, I’m not missing Mohammed at all, the thing that annoyed me the most when he left was he took my tempura battered prawns that I’d planned for my dinner that night."

Jones and Ibriham met on Facebook in 2019 and sparked concern amongst her family when they declared they were in love, despite a 46 year age gap.

Jones appeared on This Morning in January 2020 and told hosts Holly Willoughby and Phillip Schofield their love was “real and true” and he had agreed to sign a legal document to prove he did not want to lay claim to her money.

She then became a global internet sensation when she went into graphic detail about her sex life live on air.

She told Schofield: “Oh, the first night? It was rough. Nobody had been near me for 35 years, I thought I was a virgin again.

“Can I say what we used? An entire tub of KY jelly.”

Willoughby gasped and clapped her hand over mouth and both she and Schofield descended into giggles as Jones continued: “I couldn’t walk the next day. I felt as if I’d been riding a horse. Saddlesore wasn’t in it.”

Jones first got chatting to Ibriham last summer on a Facebook group exploring atheism.

After declaring their love for one another she flew to Cairo in November to meet him in person.

They married in November 2020, a year after meeting for the first time and Ibriham moved to live with Jones in Weston-Super-Mare after being granted a three-year-visa in 2021.
