Isle of Wight's Medina Marching Band make appearance at London Band Week

An Isle of Wight marching band has made an appearance at the prestigious London Band Week.

Medina Marching Band was selected for the event through The Honours System, universally recognised as the Kings Honours and Awards.

The band was among good company, performing alongside the likes of the Band of HM Royal Marines and Ohio University's 225-member outfit, the Marching 110.

Performances were at Potters Field Park and The Holy Sepulchre.

On Saturday, a military bands Tattoo took place at Royal Victoria Dock and the ExCel Centre under the baton of Major Phil Trudgeon of the Royal Marines.

The night concluded with a grand finale featuring all bands and a ceremonial sunset.

On Sunday the band was a part of the Palace Parade Review in Hampton Court Palace's Kings Garden.

Each band paraded in turn for a ten-minute slot to parade, followed by a three-minute static performance.

The day finished with a fast-paced percussion contest called Drum Line London, a competition which last year saw victory for the band's Corps of Drums.
