A German-Israeli woman who was snatched from the Nova music festival by Hamas before having her body paraded partially naked around the streets by militants is dead, her mother said.

The DNA of Shani Louk, 22, had been matched to skull bone found by the Israel Defense Forces, her mother told German media on Monday.

Her father said in a press conference that Shani had been shot dead on the day of the Hamas attack, suggesting Hamas paraded her around Gaza after killing her.

"She was killed on the spot and not only did she not suffer; 10 minutes earlier she was still enjoying herself," he told the press.

Shani's sister also shared what they had been told by the IDF, writing on social media: "It is with great sadness that we announce the death of my sister."

The Israel X (formerly Twitter) account tweeted out: "Shani who was kidnapped from a music festival and tortured and paraded around Gaza by Hamas terrorists, experienced unfathomable horrors. Our hearts are broken."

Around 200 people were taken hostage by Hamas during its attack on Israel - four have been returned to their families, while the group has also claimed that around 50 hostages have been killed in Israeli airstrikes on Gaza.
